Metacognition In Literacy
An Inside Look at Reading
Here we will explore the different aspects of literacy. We will be focusing on how the student processes words and language. Taking a closer look at the human processes will give you an edge on how to teach younger struggling students to become better and stronger readers.
What's Inside
Who Are We?
Hello! Our names are Christina, Lily, Victoria and Steven. We are graduate students from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. We are learning the different aspects of reading, we have decided to focus in on Metacognition. This includes comprehension, fluency, authors purpose, vocabulary, types of literacy, character development, using evidence and we will give a brief description of policy and legislation. We have found that many teachers review these aspects, but they are not always done in a way that is helpful to the students. So we want to provide you with ways to make this instruction fun and informative the way it should be. We will explore different activities, lessons, and strategies so you can help your students master literacy with ease. We will be focusing on the younger grades (K-3) so we can develop these skills early on.
Reading is the reason schools were developed in the first place, so we are trying to keep reading our number one priority by showing effective and fun ways to teach it.
